The antiseptic has antimicrobial activity against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria , Candida fungi, viruses causing parenteral hepatitis B, C, D, HIV infection, cytomegalovirus, herpes, influenza, parainfluenza, adenovirus infection and rotavirus infection.
